New Delhi, 2nd Oct’ 13: With increasing industrialization, pollution and urbanization, the environment preservation and conservation has taken the utmost importance for the continuity of life. Depleting natural resources, rising population and ever rising demands of natural resources have disturbed the balance of nature and is resulting in natural calamities across the globe.

Godawari Power and Ispat Limited (GPIL), A Hira Group Company, has been primarily linked with the utilization of natural resources and understands its responsibility towards their efficient utilization and conservation. Over the years, GPIL and its subsidiaries have taken several awareness and resource conservation initiatives including seminars, tree plantation drives, educational campaigns, development of eco friendly industrial technologies, health campaigns and social infrastructure. GPIL has been primarily focusing on educating people and societies to increase their sensitivity towards the environment. To further strengthen its commitment towards a green society, GPIL has recently launched a environmental awareness cycling tour, Sankalp 2013,covering 6 Indian states and travelling a long distance of 1600 Kms.

Sankalp 2013 involves 6 cyclists who have  covered a long distance of 1600 kms and travelled from Village Kacchee, Chhattisgarh to Central Park, New Delhi. Along with the success of this iconic event, GPIL launched a new industrial brand for its superior, high quality iron ore pellets. Ecopel is the world’s first iron ore pellet brand. It has been created by GPIL for their pellets which are created using the ores from their captive mines. The pellet brand has been named asEcopel and is positioned to be ecologically viable. The main focus of the brand is to promote health, safety and spread environmental awareness.

The brand Ecopel provides superior services making it a differentiator in the Steel industry. Ecopel provides SMS and Online tracking of the product with realtime logistics updates. Godawari Power and Ispat Limited has also set up a complete technical department for providing Online, Onsite and 24×7 helpline for the technical support related to the usage and other industrial issues. It is one of the few products in India which is OTIFIC (On time, in Full, Invoice correctly) ready from the day one of its launch. Since Ecopel has been launched to spread the awareness for Health and Safety, GPIL will conduct regular seminars and trainings and is working towards creating the educational material on pellets for the ready reference of the end users.

The team of cyclists arrived at Central Park wearing the Helmets having the Ecopel logo on them. Brand Ecopel has covered a long distance and has spread the awareness in the Industry for this ecologically superior product. Following the arrival of the team, a launch event for the brand took place at The Park in Delhi where several industry experts, media persons and brand consultants were invited. The Ecopel brand was formally launched By Mr. Abhishek Agrawal, Executive Director, Godawari Power and Ispat Limited.

The management of GPIL also awarded certificates and trophies to the cyclists followed by a short photo session of the team members. The event also covered a technical seminar on the pellets showcasing the chemical superiority of the pellets produced by GPIL compared to Sponge iron.

GPIL realized the need for an industrial brand to communicate its differentiation in the industry and to highlight the product on the global platform. To make this a reality, GPIL hired New Delhi based Brands of Desire, a strategic brand consulting and design company that has several years of experience working with group branding assignments in India and Internationally offering a complete spectrum of branding solutions leading to an effective and consistent use of Brand Communications.

GGEL commissions India’s First CSP power plant at Jaisalmer https://www.hiragroup.com/ggel-commissions-indias-first-csp-power-plant-at-jaisalmer/ https://www.hiragroup.com/ggel-commissions-indias-first-csp-power-plant-at-jaisalmer/#comments Wed, 05 Jun 2013 11:06:21 +0000 HiraGroup https://www.hiragroup.com/?p=1778 Godawari Green Energy Limited (GGEL) received the commissioning certificate from RREC, the Rajasthan Renewal Energy Corporation Limited, for the first commercial scale Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) plant of India. GGEL, the 100% subsidiary of Godawari Power & Ispat Limited (GPIL) is Chhattisgarh’s leading steel & power company. GGEL received the certificate on recommendation by a committee constituted by Rajasthan State Nodal Agency and authorized by the NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Limited (NVVN); thus endorsing the 50MW project to be officially and commercially operative with effect from 19th June 2013.

Taking a giant leap towards making eco-friendly energy in India, the CSP plant features state of the art parabolic trough, the technology named Euro-trough SKAL ET-150, and had commenced supplying infirm electricity to the grid on 5th June 2013, the “World Environment Day”. The plant has been built in approximately Rs. 800 Crores (USD 145 million) and is expected to displace approximately 11,30,000 tons of CO2 in a year. The plant is capable of lighting 200,000 Indian homes, while simultaneously preserving the environment. With its achievement, GGEL has been successful in building a road to sustainable energy solutions for India.

“The successful commercial operation of the GGEL 50MW project is a milestone in India’s energy diversification strategy and a step towards long-term energy security”, said J.P.Tiwari, CEO of GGEL. “It was a great learning experience to work closely with our national and international partners. Sharing our expertise and capabilities has given us confidence to undertake similar large-scale projects in future, anywhere under the sun. While we are buoyed by this success, we also know that we have a long way to go in establishing this technology firmly in the home ground, by maximizing exploitation of solar energy to generate more power and by bringing down the cost of such projects through indigenization and optimization.”

Siddharth Agrawal, Managing Director of GGEL commented “It was an incredibly tough journey filled with challenges, questions, detours and self doubts, but the GGEL team exceeded the market’s expectations as far as project construction and commissioning was concerned. This has been a collective effort, and we are grateful to all who helped us realize this dream”.

Though the technology is based on solar energy, it’s unique engineering ensures that the power plant can continue to generate electricity long after the sun sets or is obscured by clouds. CSP stations with parabolic trough technology are steam-driven power stations that generate electricity from heat. Parabolic mirrors arranged in long rows concentrate the solar radiation onto the receiver, inside which a carrier liquid is heated to almost 400 degrees Celsius. The heat, in turn, is used to raise steam that drives a conventional steam turbine and creates electricity. The extraordinary aspect about CSP electricity is its dispatch ability in the form of heat. The energy can easily be stored and fed into the grid when power is really needed, be it day or night, cloudy or sunny. This facilitates load management in grids – a factor destined to be of increasing importance as the contribution of solar energy to India’s electricity mix rises.
